Essential Woodworking Tools
There are many different tools that could fill a woodworkers supply closet, depending on the type of job that he is doing. Some tools, though, are essential to have as a woodworker, and can be used on almost every job.
These tools should be part of every woodworkers supply of tools. Probably the most essential tool to have as a woodworker is a claw hammer.
Of course most people will have a hammer at some point, and most people who have tools probably already have one. However, if youre going to be working with wood, a good hammer is absolutely essential on every single job. Find one that feels good and has a slightly rounded head. The next essential set of tools in a woodworkers supply are the level, the square, and the sliding bevel.
All of these are tools that help to define edges and angles. A square is great for creating right angles, and drawing straight lines for cutting, and a sliding bevel does the same thing, except the angle can be adjusted for when you need to reproduce an angle. The level is for making sure everything is completely horizontal or vertical to the ground.
Finally, the last essential tools in a woodworkers supply closet are a utility knife and a chisel. A chisel is great for cleaning out waste from joints, and a utility knife is great for a million different things from cleaning, to writing on wood, to cutting. These are the essential tools any woodworker needs to start.
